Muscat, JAN 28 -
The first batch of BBH Group’s warehouse units, staff accommodation and administrative offices in the integrated logistics city project in Rusayl Industrial Estate have been handed over after completion of the construction work and facilities. The project located in Rusayl along the highway is worth RO 20 million.
BBH is the first integrated logistic city from the private sector in Muscat Governorate with all the facilities and services needed by investors and workers. It includes 24 warehouses on 1,000 metres each for various uses, administrative offices serving business owners, meeting rooms, labour accommodation, and a mall that meets the requirements of residents.
Dr Khalid bin Salem al Mataani, Chair of BBH Group, described the city as an integrated logistics project established in a modern style to be an extension of the Sultanate’s comprehensive development in various sectors. He added that the Group recognises the importance of the logistics sector in strengthening the national economy due to its great investment opportunities as one of the pillars of economic diversification in the Sultanate. “BBH is embarking on its projects through its belief in the importance of real partnership between the government and the private sector. The logistics city will undertake a significant role in promoting one of the sectors targeted in economic diversification due to the facts that it provides investors with integrated logistics facilities and services,” he said.
The Chair of BBH Group asserted that the investors started the décor works in the warehouses units and equipping them with the equipment suitable with the nature of their activities and needs. He added that the logistics city in Rusayl Industrial Estate is one of the similar projects that the Group intends to implement in other cities that are essential to the economic movement, such as Sohar, Duqm and Salalah.
The investment cost of BBH’s logistics city project in Rusayl has exceeded RO 20 million. The first phase is ready for business. The units have received a large number of investors, while the other units will be complete in the first half of this year.
Dr Khalid al Mataani said that BBH Logistics City is a model for integrated logistics cities due to its facilities that serve business owners, employees, workers and goods. It is characterised by its location at a crossroads. It is adjacent to the Muscat Highway and the Sahwa Tower — Bidbid Road on the other side. It is accessible due to the open location on highways along with other facilities that have high specifications.
He added that such cities are of great importance in the organisation of logistics, especially with the existence of workers’ accommodation, which makes them away from residential neighbourhoods, given the social risks.
BBH City is characterised by the existence of all the facilities to ensure that performance of work is easy, including the staff’ accommodation with a maximum current capacity of 4,500 workers to rise to 10,000 with future expansions of the region. The city has parking capacity for 1,500 trucks at the same time, and also has a wide internal network of 18 metres wide to facilitate the movement, and exit and entry, in addition to the requirements of other modern cities, including guard services for stores and accommodation, and the use of modern technologies to facilitate business.
