NAKHL: The Habta market held on Wednesday beside the Nakhl Fort saw a large crowd of shoppers with lots of wares from garments to footwear, accessories to nuts and Omani halwa besides cattle which constitute Eid requirements and essentials, put on sale. With the heavy demand for slaughter animals the prices of goats ranged from RO 60 to RO 340 while prices of cows reached as high as RO 750 but mostly ranging from RO 350 to RO 500. In Barka, the Habta was held in front of the historic Barka Fort.

It witnessed supply of Omani goats with their prices ranging from RO 70 to RO 220 while the prices of imported goats from Somalia and Ethiopia ranged from RO 50 to RO 90. Strangely enough, there was no supply of cows at the Habta market in Barka this year. The Habta is a joyous occasion for the children and a chance for them to possess toys, pets and halwa and confectionaries. There was a huge demand for Omani halwa for which the Wilayat of Barka is famous with the halwa shops seeing heavy footfall since early morning.

The Habta market in the Wilayat of Dima W’attayeen in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate saw a big crowd of shoppers eyeing to buy Eid essentials all of which were available there. Cattle, being the most sought-after, was also available but the prices of Omani goats shot up significantly compared to last year hitting a maximum of RO 250. — ONA
