Grand Mufti receives President of Germany’s Bundestag

Muscat: Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad al Khalili, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate received Professor Norbert Lammert, President of the German Federal Parliament (Bundestag) in his office on Tuesday. During the meeting, they exchanged cordial conversations on matters related to enhancing the interfaith ties.
The meeting stressed the importance of dialogue, the denial of intolerance and hatred, promoting tolerance and listening to different viewpoints to help achieve rapprochement and human harmony.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Dr Kahlan bin Nabhan al Kharousi, Assistant Grand Mufti of the Sultanate, a number of officials
Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) received Professor Norbert Lammert and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations in the scientific and research areas between SQU and the German universities. Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, Secretary-General of the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science (SQHCCS) received Prof Norbert Lammert, and his accompanying delegation at the Centre on Tuesday
Al Riyami gave a briefing to the guest on the SQHCCS, its message, objectives, major roles and efforts made at the local and international cultural and scientific fields.
The visit of the President of the German Federal Parliament and his accompanying delegation to the Sultanate comes within the framework of promoting the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, as well the keenness of both sides to upgrade such relations in many fields to serve their joint interests.
The meeting was attended by the SQHCCS Assistant Secretary General and Thomas F Schneider, German Ambassador to the Sultanate.
