Global conference to highlight Omani culture and heritage

AMMAN: The Omani Studies Unit at Al al-Bayt University will organise the 13th international conference entitled ‘Cultural and Civilisational Heritage in the Sultanate of Oman between Authenticity and Modernity’ on November 26 and 27.


The conference will be held in cooperation with the Omani Studies Centre of the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and the Sultanate’s Embassy in Jordan.


It aims to highlight the historical and cultural status of the Omani cities, towns and cultural sites of unique and distinct characteristics.


The meet will focus on the necessary initiatives to preserve the Omani culture through the contribution of official, civil and academic institutions, explore the contents of the variety of Omani cultural heritage in various written and oral sources, besides highlighting the modern scientific and technological methods in the study


and documentation of the Omani heritage.


The preparatory committee has invited people wishing to take part in the conference to fill in the participation form and submit research papers not exceeding 25 pages and not less than 15 pages on the theme of the conference. The deadline for submission of abstract is June 21.


A hard copy of the research should be sent no later than September 13, 2018. All papers will be subject to initial scientific refereeing.


The approved research will be announced and published in a


book


for the proceedings of the conference.
