NIZWA, SEPT 2 - Students of Al Dakhiliyah began their new academic year with great ambitions. On Sunday, about 90,831 students attended 152 schools on the first day of school expressing their happiness to return to schools after the summer vacation. On the first day, the schools welcomed gleeful students as new books were delivered to them. The schools have made various preparations to welcome the students with vigour and activity. The school’s preparations were to ensure the regularity of buses transporting students according to the distribution and to identify student stop points from their homes.

The schools also activated the first day programme, which includes receiving students and putting them to the classroom, distributing the books, and stimulate students to maintain and package the books. Awareness campaigns were disseminated to ease the students’ school bags through the activation of the school schedule and the preparation of awareness brochures to reduce the weight. There was also a need for cooperation between teachers and parents in reducing the weight of the school bag by a systematic arrangement of their bags.

They were also provided drawers and special cabinets in the classroom to save the tools of students, and integrate two or three subjects in a single notebook. The students were asked to complete the school schedule quickly, so that they can arrange the bags. In order to determine the needs of the schools and their readiness, eight committees were established in the governorate for direct follow-up, in order to identify, inventory and follow up the provision of needs and to follow up the readiness of the school building for the new schools.
