By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: FEB 28 - When it comes to reading habit, girls seem to have an upper hand, which was evident at Muscat International Book Fair 2017 on Tuesday. Hundreds of girls, teenagers and women from schools, colleges and professional institutions flocked to the book festival to grab their favourite titles. “The once-in-year book fair is a treat for us, and we await the fair each year,” said Fatima al Hamdani, a student of College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS). The titles were not confined to one area. The girls found there was something for everyone according to their specialisation and discipline.

“We wanted to buy some books on design and global trends in scientific drawings. We were waiting for the MIBF and thanks to the organisers, we got what we wanted,” said Fatima al Hinai and Manar al Habsi, from Scientific College of Design (SCD). “My dad gave me RO 50 when I told him my school was visiting the fair. I bought a lot of books for myself, my sisters and cousin because I know their preferences,” said Ameena, a Class 10 student of a public school. While some were looking for books related to academics, some were keen on classics. “We are here to buy some books on literature and fiction,” said Sabrina and Raha from Gulf Private School. The fair, they said, “had everything we were looking for”.
