MUSCAT: The General Federation of Oman Trade Union (GFOTU) along with other countries across the world will mark World Labour Day on May 1, on Tuesday. In coordination with various media means and social media platforms, GFOTU will organise a number of awareness programmes dedicated to deepen the concept of social dialogue and highlight the role of trade unions in protecting labours’ right while making them aware of their duties, too.  The Union has recently released two competitions on photography and the best entity celebrating the world labour day.

The second contest will induce other private firms to similarly celebrate the World Labour Day. Firms wishing to participate in the contest should have a trade union affiliated to GFOTU. Portraits involved in the photography competition should highlight any of these aspects, including labour issues, social justice, working woman, occupational health and safety, youth and work and work and human rights. Other terms and conditions allow the candidate to participate with a new picture or more but has to be taken by himself. Winners of the contest will be unveiled on May 1.
