With the cool breeze blowing on the coastal side of the country heralding the arrival of winter, cruise liners have begun to call at Port Sultan Qaboos (PSQ) seeking to bask in the mild sunlight. As many as 42 German nationals were seen peddling their bicycles exploring the beauty of the Muttrah Sea Road and the adjoining touristic places on Thursday.

These tourists, smitten by the stories of eternal beauty of the country, embarked on their journey on a German cruise liner called ‘Mein Schiff’. After their cycle ride in Muttrah they were convinced of the stories and attested to the poetic expression that “heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter.”

“We are some 42 passengers in two groups onboard the ‘Mein Schiff’ tourist vessel travelling in search of the eternal beauty of the Sultanate”, Florian and Lovis, tour guides on board the ship said.

The group comprising tourists aged between 18 to 55 were unanimous when they said “it was a wonderful treat” for people from countries with cold climate.

“It was an unforgettable experience to have ridden across the Sea Road, all the way to the Muscat Palace and back. And the view of Muttrah Souq was breathtaking. The stuff available there were amazing and we had a wonderful bargain”, some of them said while packing their backpack with the antiquities bought from the souq.

They were on a 7-day voyage, the origin of which was Dubai heading to Khasab, before arriving at Muscat.

The group will return to Abu Dhabi today then to Dubai carrying the sweet memories of their stay in Oman and elsewhere before they fly back to Germany.
