Foreign firms keen to develop Khasab Port

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport and Communications on Monday said that the development activities will continue in the Musandam Governorate despite the current economic challenges triggered by falling oil prices. Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, said despite the difficult terrain of Musandam, however, the ministry will continue to develop the road sector with a view to provide good connectivity to the people of the governorate. He pointed out that the Khasab-Lima-Daba road is one of the important projects that will be implemented on priority at the national level in line with the strategic and comprehensive development of Musandam. The Port of Khasab has offered for investment and several international companies, including those from China and Singapore, have expressed interest to develop the port, including the tourism, fishing and commercial components.
