Foreign Direct Investment hits RO 7.4 bn last year

MUSCAT: Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Sultanate registered RO 7,391.100 million at the end of Q4 last year, an increase of RO 717.500 million, according to an initial data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


Oil and gas extraction activities accounted for the majority of FDI recording RO 3,537.900 million followed by financial brokerage at RO 1,275.500 million, industrial sector (RO 1,100.200), real estate (RO 632.2 million) while other sectors drew RO 944.4 million worth of FDI.


Country-wise, the United Kingdom accounted for RO 3,182.700 of FDI in the Sultanate followed by the UAE with RO 887.1 million and Kuwait RO 390.7 million, Bahrain (RO 297.1 million), USA (RO 283.1 million), Qatar (RO 274.9 million), Switzerland (RO 237.8), India (RO 228.5 million), the Netherlands (RO 170 million) and RO 1,439.1 million from other countries. — ONA
