WHY IS RAMADHAN IMPORTANT FOR YOU?
This month is a blessing from Allah (swt) for us. Not only does it raise us spiritually, but during this month, worshippers through fasting detoxify the body and improve their health in many ways. I’ve always cherished this month and found it as a way to get closer to our Creator.
How do you (and your family) celebrate Ramadhan?
In our family, the holy month of Ramadhan is a time when we all try to improve ourselves as humans and interact more positively with our communities. One of the main family traditions is to exchange iftar delicacies with our wonderful neighbours who are both expats and Omanis.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FOND MEMORY OF RAMADHAN GROWING UP?
Growing up in the faith, there are a lot of things to consider. But what always stood out was our time going for the Taraweeh prayers at night and listening to the wonderful Quranic verses recited in a beautiful voice by the imam and then meeting up with friends after the prayers for cricket.
WHAT’S the most challenging situation you have to personally overcome in ramadhan?
As a believer and as I practise fasting, the smell of food is challenging but the most difficult to overcome I think is trying to stay away from Iftar buffets. There are a lot of buffets to choose from anywhere you go.
Do you help the poor during RamadHan and how?
Yes, Alhamdulilah. Our company and our family both donate to different charities during Ramadhan. Moreover, being a foodstuff company, this is the time when we give the most discounts, special offers and free stock to the deserving public.
