First women-managed tourist restaurant opens in Suhar

First women-managed tourist restaurant funded by the Oman Development Bank (ODB) opened in Suhar yesterday. It was inaugurated by Hassan bin Sulaiman al Jabri, Director of Tourism Department of North Al Batinah Governorate, in the presence of public figures, a number of shaikhs, dignitaries of the governorate and general public.


Located in Al Refaa area of Suhar, ‘Nibras Al Sharq Tourist Restaurant’ is one of the most promising tourism projects. It is expected to enrich the tourism experience and support the sector in Suhar. It will also provide a unique experience for visitors and tourists in the area.


Nibras Al Sharq Tourist Restaurant specialises in Omani, Gulf and Yemeni cuisine. It has a number of facilities which offer delight and comfort to its guests. It has unique Arabic, Omani and Gulf traditional sitting arrangements. It has a family hall which combines simplicity and luxury. The restaurant has also an outdoor seating arrangement for guests to enjoy open air, a prayer room, and a children’s playing area equipped with games.


This new tourist restaurant funded by the Oman Development Bank (ODB) is fully managed by women. It has Omani and Gulf heritage specialties and a professionally trained team in the area of hospitality.


Khuwaiter al Ma’amari, Director of ODB’s Suhar branch, said that the bank’s financing of the new restaurant project was part of its plans to finance tourism projects as one of the most important sectors in the ninth five-year plan. It is also one of the most important sectors which contribute to achieving the desired economic diversification.


Al Ma’amari said that investment in the tourism sector would get benefit from the large and diversified tourism assets of the Sultanate. It can also create large number of job opportunities, which is also part of the policy, programme and new strategy of the ODB. The bank continues to show its generosity and active support for innovative projects which encourages high value-added economic activities associated with the ninth five-year plan. It specially supports productive sectors which can maximise and diversify the sources of the national economy.
