Experts to share insights on pharma advances

MUSCAT: The 8th Pharmaceutical Care Conference, organised by the Ministry of Health (MOH), will be inaugurated on Monday at Oman convention & Exhibition Center under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health. The conference be held under the theme “Towards Excellence in Pharmacy Practice’’. The event is one of the most significant specialised conferences held in the region in the field of pharmacy practices. This year’s version receives a wide-ranging international participation involving senior officials from different practice-advanced international organisations.


The sessions of the conference will be enriched with the global expertise, practices, and experiences through the distinct participation of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Federation of International Pharmacists(FIP), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP Canada), European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EHAP), as well as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society, and the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.


More than 1,000 pharmacists and assistant pharmacists, doctors, and nurses will take part in this conference. The participants are from the different MOH health institutions, Ministry of Defence, Royal Oman Police (ROP), Diwan of Royal Court, and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), in addition to other participants from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and several other Arab countries.


For three days, 40 local, regional, and international prominent speakers will be highlighting various professional themes related to the advanced future pharmacy practice in order to achieve quality and effectiveness in the professional pharmacy management.


The conference will further focus on activating the pharmaceutical care in community pharmacies by presenting 39 working papers in addition to 17 workshops, 8 plenary sessions, besides displaying 29 scientific posters prepared by practitioners and students.


The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition of pharmaceutical companies and specialised establishments in pharmacy sector. — ONA
