By Lakshmi Kothaneth — MUSCAT:May 7 - There are chances of local cloud formation for three to five days starting from May 9.

The Met Office at Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said, “Chances of convective cloud development, and rain and thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining wilayats are expected towards afternoon.”

By evening, clouds might extend to the coast of Oman Sea, reaching out to Northern Batinah and other areas, it said.

Temperature is expected to range between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius this week. Humidity is likely to be higher during this time due to sea breeze.

Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over the Dhofar Governorate. Later in the week, isolated rain is expected as the advective clouds move towards Dhofar from the south of Arabian Peninsula.

The forecast indicates chances of rain in the coastal areas of Dhofar.

The Met Office has warned of a likely duststorm over deserts and open areas, and poor visibility because of the blowing of the dust.

Sea conditions are expected to be light to moderate along Arabian Sea and Musandam coasts with a maximum wave height of 1.5 metres, and one metre along the rest of the coasts.
