By Lakshmi Kothaneth — MUSCAT: Feb. 21 - The northern parts of Oman are expected to experience a small wave of trough, which is likely to cause drizzle to light rain, while Muscat would experience cloud development, but no rain. Similar conditions will prevail today. Rains are expected in Batinah area, including Barka, Sohar and Shinas as well as areas around Musandam Governorate. Al Buraimi Governorate is also expected to receive isolated rains. In the desert areas such as Fahud, high, dust-raising winds can be expected in the afternoon. Sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate. According to Met Office weather forecaster Mohammed al Shaibani, “The atmosphere is dry.” While clouds will clear away, the Met Office said the real effects of the trough will be experienced by February 23 with the development of advective medium and high clouds. More rains are expected on Friday starting from Musandam up to Al Hajar Mountains. The trend is expected to continue until Saturday, when it might affect the entire Oman Sea coast.
