Establishments covered by social insurance rise

MUSCAT: The latest statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) by the end of June 2017 indicated an increase in the number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system to 16,787 due to an increase in youth’s orientation to open private projects.


This was reflected in the increase in number of active insurees working in the private sector within the Sultanate, reaching 217,748, with a total of 28,110 registered cases.


The majority of active insurees were concentrated in the age group (26-30) years, with 23.4 per cent of the total active insurees.


The average wage for the total active insureds was RO 667.


In the termination of service indicators, which includes termination of service, resignation, transfer to another employer, termination of service due to death or disability, and termination of employment for other reasons up to the end of last June, accounted for 26,806 cases.
