MUSCAT: Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas social development arm supported the Izki Mass Wedding ceremony as part of its key social development initiative, that form one of its three founding pillars — Community well-being; the other two being Education and Health. The event was held at Izki on July 7, 2017 under the auspices of HH Marwan bin Turki al Said.

Commenting on the event, Nailesh Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas said, “We are devoted to building stronger and more resilient societies through a wide network of community building initiatives. Our support of events such as the Izki mass wedding ceremony forms a fundamental aspect of Eshraqa’s social outreach programmes that seek to improve and enrich people’s lives. We feel honoured to be part of such a momentous event and memorable occasion.”

Eshraqa has been supporting the mass wedding ceremony at Izki for the last five years, ensuring that couples with meagre financial means, have a memorable day. This year again, the company offered generous support as the diamond sponsor for the event, facilitating the nuptials of 47 couples.

Thanking Eshraqa for its longstanding support, Mohammed Bin Ali Bin Mohammed Al Ryami, Izki Mass Wedding General Supervisor said, “We thank Eshraqa for their continued support in helping our goals to give Oman’s youth a good foundation for marriage. Through their generous support, we have been able to successfully set up a system for youth to get a fresh start at the outset of their marriage.”

The Izki mass wedding event is an ongoing social inter-dependence initiative that started in 2003 with the support of a huge number of organizations from - both- public and private sectors, as well as social entities and sports teams in the Wilayat. These institutions share the same goal – which is to facilitate the lives of youth and help them settle well in their respective marriages without any hassles; the groom only participates with a symbolic amount, and the rest of the expenses are borne by the volunteering organisations such as Eshraqa.

Part of the festivities for the last week’s mass wedding event included lucky draws that entitled couples to win leisure trips to Malaysia.
