Eid al Adha holidays from August 19 to 23

MUSCAT: “On the occasion of the blessed Eid al Adha, and as per the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the blessed Eid al Adha holidays for employees working in the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state administrative apparatus will be from Sunday, 8th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 19 till Thursday, 12th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 23. Work will resume on Sunday, 15th Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to August 26,” according to a decision issued on Monday by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council. The minister extended his greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on this blessed occasion, praying to Allah the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and long life, and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty for many years to come and the Omani people and our dear country further progress and prosperity under His Majesty’s wise leadership.


Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, issued a ministerial decision stating that Eid al Adha holidays for private sector companies and establishments will be from Sunday (August 19) till Thursday (August 23). The decision allows employers and employees to agree on work arrangements to compensate this holiday, if necessity arises.


Employees whose weekly-off coincides with the holiday of the aforesaid occasion must be compensated. All employees in the private sector extended their greetings to His Majesty the Sultan on this blessed occasion, praying to the Almighty Allah to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and long life, and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty, the Omani people and all Muslims with welfare and blessings. — ONA
