Eid al Adha holidays announced

MUSCAT: The blessed Eid al Adha holiday 1438 AH for employees in the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state apparatus will be from Thursday (August 31) till Monday (September 4). Work will resume on Tuesday (September 5). This came in a decision issued on Monday by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Chairman of the Civil Service Council. The text of the decision reads as follows: “On the occasion of the blessed Eid al Adha 1438 AH, the Eid holiday for employees in the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state apparatus will be from Thursday, 9th Dhul Hijjah 1438 AH corresponding to August 31 till Monday, 13th Dhul Hijjah 1438 AH corresponding to September 4. Work will resume on Tuesday, 14th Dhul Hijjah 1438 AH corresponding to September 5.


The minister extended his greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on this blessed occasion, praying to the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty for many years to come and the Omani people and our dear country further progress and welfare under His Majesty’s wise leadership and all Muslims prosperity and blessings.


Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, issued a ministerial decision stating that Eid al Adha holiday for private sector companies and establishments will be from Thursday (August 31) till Monday (September 4). The decision allows employers and employees to agree on work arrangements to compensate this holiday, if necessity arises. Employees whose weekly off coincides with the holiday must be compensated. All employees in the private sector extended their greetings to His Majesty the Sultan on this happy occasion, praying to the Almighty Allah to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness, long life and for the return of this and similar occasions on His Majesty, the Omani people and all Muslims with welfare and blessings. — ONA
