E-Census panel reviews progress

MUSCAT: The Technical Committee for Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 held its fifth meeting of the current year. The meeting was chaired by Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). During the meeting, Al Barwani indicated that the project is progressing in accordance with the set timeline, pointing out that the target completion rate to be achieved before the end of this year is 50 per cent. He also highlighted the planned awareness activities, stressing the importance of organisations and individuals to make sure that their data is up to date at the concerned agencies.


Omar al Ismaili, Director-General of E-Census, gave an overview about the project including its current status, data-matching progress, mechanism of the electronic link with relevant census databases, procedures for updating data and their inclusiveness and integration. Al Ismaili also discussed the level of progress that has been achieved so far in building the E-Census electronic system. The Technical Committee for Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments 2020 consists of members from public and private sectors. It facilitates the work of project teams, reviews, reports and provides support to the census. — ONA
