Duo held for stealing cash from car

MUSCAT: Two Arab nationals were arrested on Tuesday on charges of stealing cash from a car by breaking window, said a Royal Oman Police (ROP) source.


According to the source, the duo was keeping a watch on the man when he was withdrawing cash from a bank. They followed him till he parked his car. After he got out, they smashed the car window, grabbed the cash and ran away.


The Directorate-General of Inquires and Criminal Investigations, which launched an investigation, managed to catch them when they were trying to steal cash from another car.


The police have called on citizens and residents to be cautious when withdrawing money from banks and not to leave cash inside cars.


Held for reckless driving


Two citizens were arrested after they car they were driving ran over a pedestrian and later rammed into the roadside pavement in Muna Heights in Bausher.


They were trying to run away after knocking down a pedestrian when they were arrested. The driver did not have a driving licence, said the police.


Arrested for car theft


In another case, a drunk man was arrested on charges of stealing a vehicle in Al Amerat.
