MUSCAT: The Department of Criminal Investigation at Ruwi Police Station has arrested a person on charges of forgery of medical certificates of expatriate employees. A source said that the Ruwi Police Station received several reports about the use of fake seals in the medical statements of the Asian expatriates. The investigation led to the office where forged seal was used and the owner was arrested.

Recently, the Dhahirah police arrested two Asian expatriates for forgery of official documents. ROP received a report from the medical fitness centre at the Directorate-General of Medical Services about the use of fake stamps in the examination certificates of two domestic workers.

Meanwhile, the traffic department in Ibri arrested three people for violating the traffic law and firing shots.

According to sources, the suspects were arrested for firing gun shots in a public place on the occasion of a wedding in the Mazam area of Ibri.  The suspects were referred to the prosecution to complete the legal proceedings.

ROP said the trend of firing shots in public places is dangerous as it can take away the lives of people and cause damage to public property.

ROP called on everyone about the need to abide by regulations and laws in order to preserve the lives of the public who gather on social occasions.

It may be noted that the Article (25) of the Weapons and Ammunition Law stipulates that a penalty of not more than RO 200 shall be imposed on anyone who fires shots, sets firecrackers or throws rockets that can cause flames or explosions in a populated area or places near public roads without a police licence.
