Dhofar Municipal Affairs Committee formed

By Kaushalendra Singh — SALALAH: Feb. 5 - A committee of municipal affairs in Dhofar has been formed to look into various issues in the Governorate. The committee has been formed following a directive from Salim bin Aufit al Shanfari, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.


“The Municipal Affairs Committee is an important advisory body which takes up public interest issues of local importance with the competent authorities and ensures their solution. The representatives here are assigned certain responsibilities both from the government as well as the civic society,” said a Dhofar Municipality official while talking about the importance of the committee.


The Municipal Affairs Committee of Dhofar consists of representatives from 10 wilayats.


They are: Salalah, Mirbat, Taqah, Sadah, Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands, Thamrait, Al Mazyouna, Dhalkout, Rakhyout and Maqshan.


In Salalah, the chairman of the committee is the Director-General of the Directorate-General of Local Affairs in the Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, while for all other wilayats the respective Walis are the chairmen of the committee.


Following is the wilayat-wise committee list of Municipal Affairs Committee — Salalah: Abdul Aziz bin Awad al Marhoon, Ali bin Saeed al Yafei; Taqah: Ahmed bin Ali al Mashani, Abdullah bin Mohammed al Mushaikhi; Mirbat: Shaikh Salem bin Mohammed al Amri, Mohammed bin Abdullah Obaid Mahroos Seyari; Sadah: Shaikh Mohammed bin Mahad Obeidan al Amri, Said bin Ali Said Qwetta al Alwi; Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands: Saleh bin Salim al Junaibi, Nora bint Mohammed al Mahri.


From Thamrait the committee members are Shaikh Mohammed bin Said Mohammed Mahia Mashan and Mohammed bin Bakar Khuyda Khawal; Al Mazyouna: Bakhit bin Ali al Afari, Humaid bin Salim al Harizi, Dhalkout: Salim bin Ahmed Mahad Zaabnoot, Omar bin Mohammed Ali Bawain; Rakhyout: Ahmed bin Saeed Farah al Bahanta, Mustahail bin Mohammed Musallam Rjehat al Mahri; and from Maqshan the members are Mohammed bin Musallam Sohail Jidad and Jameela Salem Suhail al Masan.


All these members have been vested with important role of development of their respective wilayats by establishing a strong bridge between the local people and the government functionaries.
