Defence ties, cooperation with UK reviewed

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, received in his office at Muaskar Bait Al Falaj on Wednesday Gen Sir Nick Carter, Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom (UK), and his accompanying delegation.


They discussed the outcomes and lessons learned from the Omani-British joint military exercise (Al Saif Al Sareea 3), which was held in October. The meeting also reviewed the existing military cooperation between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them.


The meeting was also attended by Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff, the UK ambassador to the Sultanate, the British Military Attaché and the delegation accompanying the guest.


Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, also received in his office Gen Sir Nick Carter and his delegation.


Gen Al Numani welcomed the guest, who expressed his delight to visit the Sultanate.


The two sides exchanged cordial conversations. They also reviewed march of the good historic relations binding the Sultanate and the UK in all fields, as well as means of promoting them to serve interests of the two friendly countries. They also discussed a number of matters of common concern.


The meeting was attended by Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, SAF Chief of Staff, the British ambassador to the Sultanate, the British Military Attaché and the delegation accompanying the guest.


Separately, Lt Gen Al Nabhani received in his office Gen Sir Nick Carter and his delegation.


The two sides exchanged views and discussed a range of military matters of common concern between the two friendly countries.
