Deadline ends for receiving Al Busoor dates

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced the end of the period to receive the locally called Al Busoor (raw, cooked dates) for 2017 from all the governorates of the Sultanate, which began on the October 15. Al Busoor dates, including Al Mabsali, Abu Naranja and Al Madlooki, were received at the warehouses of the ministry. Ahmed bin Hamad al Harthy, Head of the Al Busoor Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said that the crop was sorted and classified according to its quality in each wilayat according to the price table of Al Busoor crop. The number of suppliers for the 2017 season amounted to 438, while the quantities received were more than 2,265 tonnes. Financial dues were immediately paid in the names of suppliers and the delivery of cheque to them successively. The 2017 season witnessed a rise in the number of suppliers compared to 2016, which reached 324 suppliers and the quantities received reached more than 1,610 tonnes. — ONA
