Muscat, Jan 6 - The Muscat Municipality inspectors continued their crackdown on a number of street vendors in Muttrah and Ruwi. The vendors were found selling vegetables and other accessories in violation of the guidelines stipulated by the authorities. The team has been conducting raids following violations in Bausher, including disposal of waste in parks and restrooms, and the destruction of green areas. Violators were fined. The Observer had reported earlier that street vendors had continued to illegally operate despite the municipality’s efforts to regulate such practices. For the last few years, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has been inviting applications from Omanis interested in registering as street vendors through its Invest Easy Portal.
