MUSCAT: The meeting discusses the role of the Council in promoting research and supporting postgraduate students. The Research Committee of the Centre for Preparatory Studies (CPS) at SQU organised a meeting between researchers and officials from The Research Council (TRC) to discuss various issues related to the role of the Council in promoting research and supporting postgraduate research students, both potential future students as well as those who are already on scholarships in Oman and abroad. The meeting was a great opportunity for the attendees to interact directly with officials from TRC and get their queries answered. More than 20 participants including researchers from the Centre for Preparatory Studies and outside attended the meeting with TRC officials.

There were three detailed presentations as follows. Abdullah al Mahrooqi, Director of Communication at TRC, gave a presentation on the role of TRC in promoting and supporting research initiative in Oman and the provision of various programmes and funding in this regard. This was followed by a second presentation by Dr Abdulmonem al Kharousi, Director of Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN) on the role of OMREN in connecting various research bodies and individuals in Oman to the outer world using high-tech methods. Finally, Osama al Lawati, business developer specialist at TRC, gave a talk on Innovation Part Muscat (IPM) which is part of the TRC. The floor was then opened for the attendees to interact directly with the three guests.
