Coverage for social insurance system up

MUSCAT: The latest statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance by the end of last October indicated a rise in the number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system to 16,929 establishments, due to an increase in the tendency of young people to open private projects. This was reflected in the increase in the number of active insured working in the private sector in the Sultanate, which reached 221,509 insured, with a total number of cases registered 52,349 cases. The majority of active insured were concentrated in the age group of 26-30 years, with 23.2 per cent of the total active insured.
