Companies seek 1,694 engineers

Muscat: The Engineering Recruitment Exhibition began at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Tuesday.


Around 108 companies are taking part in the three-day exhibition offering 1,694 jobs for 2,200 registered job seekers. Salim bin Nasser al Oufi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, inaugurated the exhibition.


He said, “The exhibition aims at matching jobseekers and the available jobs so that jobseekers accept the jobs and immediately recruited, as well as a contract is issued by the Ministry of Manpower.”


Hamad bin Khamis al Amri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Labour Affairs, said, “The importance of the exhibition is to gather jobseekers who specialise in various fields of engineering under one roof with a large number of private sector companies and establishments to provide direct job opportunities in this field”.He said jobseekers’ disciplines have been matched with the available jobs in coordination with the participating companies.


The Public Authority of Manpower Register (PAMR) summoned 2,200 job seekers according to seniority and the available jobs for a number of engineering specialties in the private sector establishments.


There are 1,146 job seekers with university degrees, advanced diploma (technical colleges) and higher diploma and 1,054 jobseekers with professional diploma.


The Ministry of Manpower continues to exert efforts to employ the national workforce in the private sector establishments and adopt any method that enhances its role in linking national job seekers with the appropriate opportunities available in the private sector enterprises.
