Muscat, Dec 29 - A total of 10,530 certificates were issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the “release” of different products in Muscat, Suhar and Dhofar in the second quarter of 2018. During the same period in 2017, 7,355 certificates were issued. Certificates were issued for the release of mechanical, metal, electrical, chemical, construction, and food and agricultural products.
The Department of Statistics in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said 2,712 certificates were issued for the release of passenger cars and tyres in the second quarter of 2018 — a 175.1 per cent rise (986) over the same period last year. Seventeen certificates were issued for the release of trailers.
A total of 470 certificates were issued for lead-acid batteries for cars, a 46.9 per cent (320) rise.
A total of 22 certificates were issued for the release of motorcycles and 343 for low voltage electrical equipment.
The number of certificates issued for the release of engine lubricant oils was 235, a 35.1 per cent (174) increase.
Cosmetic products received 244 certificates, an of 18 per cent rise.
A total of 330 certificates were given for the release of children’s toys and games.
