Commerce and Industry Ministry marks Oman Industry Day today

MUSCAT: In commemoration of the visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to Al Rusayl Industrial Estate on February 9, 1991, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will celebrate today, Thursday, the Oman Industry Day, which falls on 9th February each year under the auspices of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Nahla bint Abdul Wahab al Hamdeyah, Director-General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said that the marking this occasion comes as a confirmation of the importance of this economic sector to diversify sources of the national income and develop the Omani industries.
She added that during the celebration, a review will highlight achievements of the industrial sector during the past period and the major industrial indicators for the sector, as well as presenting several working papers, including a paper on electricity tariff for factories, industrial innovation, and a presentation on the Omani Products Exhibition (OBEX), in addition to recommendations of the preparatory workshop for the Oman Industry Day 2017.
She pointed out that there will be a meeting between Dr Al Sunaidy and businessmen and investors to discuss the challenges and difficulties for the advancement of the Omani industry and increasing competition of products at the local and international levels. The ministry organised a forum on industrial innovation on February 6, 7, in order to develop the industrial sector through the introduction of technology in various industries to reduce time and effort, accelerate the pace of production and increase the quality of products. — ONA
