Clubs theatre competition for Al Dakhiliyah, Al Wusta ends

The Clubs Competition for Youth Creations in the field of theatre recently concluded at Al Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta governorates in Nizwa University Theatre.


The competition included four plays namely ‘Basil village’ from Nizwa Club, ‘Dark Ways’ from Fanja Club, ‘Al Hashmair’ from Bahla Club, and ‘Valid for Life’ for Samayil Club. ‘Valid for Life’ won the best integrated performance, followed by ‘Al Hashmair’ by Bahla Club.


Najla al Baloushi of Bahla Club won the best actress award, while the second best was bagged by Noor al Huda al Gamari from Samayil. Hamed al Sayed from Bahla Club won the best actor award, while the second best role was won by Salim al Rawahi, best costume design by Yahya al Sulaimani from Samayil Club and award of the best lighting won by


Mahmoud al Makhromi from Samayil Club.


The committee also presented an encouraging award for Aysha al Gahdhami from Nizwa Club and Yahya al Namani from the Fanja Club. The competition was evaluated by writer Abdul Razak al Rubaei and Khalid al Dawiani and director Anwar al Ruzaiqi.


The four clubs competed for the first position and qualified to the final stage of the competition at the national level. The theatrical performances showed many promising talents in various areas of the theatre throughout the period.


Hamed al Sayed says: “I would like to thank the organisers of the competition for giving us the opportunity to showcase our talent and creativity on stage. I have the honour to participate for the second time in this competition.”


“A year ago, we won the first place in the Governorate of Muscat and second at the Sultanate level. My participation this year came from Bahla Club which tells a social issue that is common in our society. I bagged the best actor award and wish for the continuation of the competition which helps us to showcase our creative energies in various fields.”


Noor al Huda al Gamari said: “I thank the Ministry of Sports Affairs for its interest in theatre and the opportunity for youngsters to develop their skills. Our play was a combined effort between comedy and tragedy and tells a social issue that touches all segments of society which raises the issues of existence with them in all different Arab


societies. We got the best integrated performance and qualified us to compete on Sultanate level in the next stage.”
