MUSCAT: The Civil Service Council on Sunday held its second meeting of the year under the chairmanship of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, and Chairman of the Civil Service Council. The meeting reviewed the follow-up report on what has been done to implement the decisions and recommendations of its first meeting in 2017. It also reviewed the items on the agenda and also discussed requests of government organisations about regularising the employment conditions for some of their employees to be compatible with the organisations they work for and with their roles and responsibilities as shown in the Civil Service Law and its executive regulation. It also discussed issues related to appointment applications and contracts for some technical jobs in light of the council’s powers in this regard. The council discussed the reasons of such requests in terms of their importance to the functioning of the concerned authorities and the exercise of its terms of reference assigned to it, particularly in the area of the completion of the technical aspects associated with its work and the implementation of their own projects. — ONA
