MUSCAT: The Civil Service Council on Sunday held a meeting under the chairmanship of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court. The Council reviewed the annual report prepared by the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), which included the most prominent indicators of the performance of the Institute and its achievements and efforts during 2017, especially the training programmes and consultancy studies and partnerships, in cooperation with the private sector to implement its programmes and activities.

The Council also discussed the issues related to applications for appointment and contracting for some technical posts in light of the Council’s jurisdiction in this regard and based on the justification of these applications in terms of their importance for carrying out work of the concerned parties. The Council examined the requests of some government units for its employees who are seconded abroad by combining the basic salary the employee gets from his employer and the salary he gets from the second employer, in accordance with the legal provisions governing the Civil Service Law and its executive regulations.

Further, the Council reviewed requests for determining the official working hours or the rotation of some branches or organisational divisions of some units of the administrative apparatus of the state, in accordance with the nature of their work and their competencies in light of the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Council in this regard. The Council also reviewed several issues on its agenda from various ministries and government units upon which appropriate decisions were taken. — ONA
