CBO chief inaugurates Standard Chartered’s new HQ in Oman

MUSCAT, FEB 10 - Standard Chartered announced the official inauguration of its new Oman headquarters office, by Tahir bin Salim al Amri, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman. This marks the bank’s kick-off to its 50th anniversary celebrations and being in Oman since 1968. The ceremony was attended by senior Central Bank of Oman and Standard Chartered officials and took place at the bank’s Oman new HQ in Al Athaiba, Muscat.


Tahir al Amri, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman, said: “The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) takes great pleasure in congratulating Standard Charted Bank on the opening of its new office in the Sultanate as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The banking sector in Oman has made rapid strides over the years, contributing significantly in the growth of the economy by providing adequate credit and other banking services.


Standard Chartered Bank, which started its operation in Sultanate in July 1968, has been an active member of the banking consortium that met the evolving development needs of the economy. We are indeed glad to note that the bank has been actively providing banking services to both large corporates and small & medium enterprises (SMEs). We are quite hopeful that the bank will continue to support the economic activities in Oman during these challenging times with special focus on inclusive growth. Towards this end, CBO would extend all necessary support to facilitate the bank to carry out its functions smoothly.”


Sunil Kaushal, Regional CEO of Africa and the Middle East (AME) at Standard Chartered said, “We are proud to launch a new chapter in our bank’s history with the official opening of our new Standard Chartered Oman HQ. It recently acted as Joint Lead Manager of Oman’s largest bond issuance that took place in January 2018.
