Be cautious about wadis and sea condition

As the Sultanate gets ready for the next trough low pressure, Oman Met Office wants the public to be cautious about the wadis and the sea during the period of rain.


The trough is to begin on Tuesday and is expected to last for four days and conclude on Saturday.  The rains are expected to begin in Musandam and the coast of Oman Sea and then extend to other parts such as Buraimi, Dahirah, Muscat, Dakhiliya, North and South Batinah, North and South Sharqiya .


There are chances for fresh downdraft wind associated with hail.  Humidity is expected to high but because of the wind it will be hardly noticeable according to the weather forecaster at Oman Met Office, Public Authority for Civil Aviation.


The sea condition is expected to be rough in the coast of Musandam and Oman Sea Coast with maximum height ranging between 2 to 3 meters.


“The law pressure and rains are normal in March and April.  We have experienced this before,” said the Oman Met Office weather forecaster.


Meanwhile, partly cloudy skies is predicted for today over northern governorates of the sultanate with chances of isolated rain over Musandam, al-Buraimi, north al-Batinah governorates with chances of convective clouds development and isolated rain over al-Hajar Mountains towards afternoon. Clear to partly cloudy skies over the rest of the sultanate with chances of dust rising winds over desert and open areas. Sea condition is expected to be moderate to rough along most of Oman’s coast with maximum wave height range 2.5 – 3.0 meter.


Over most of the Sultanate winds will be southeasterly light to moderate occasionally fresh.

Centre shows a trough of low pressure area for March 21st states, “cloudy skies over northern governorates of the sultanate with chances of rain occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh downdraft winds and hail over Muscat, Musandam, alBuraimi ,al-Dhahira, north al-Batinah south al-Batinah, al-Dakhliya, North al-Sharqiya and South al-Sharqiya governorates. Partly cloudy skies over the rest of the sultanate. Sea condition is expected to be moderate to rough along most of Oman’s coast with maximum wave height range 2.5 – 3.0 meter.”
