CAS Nizwa organise campaign to promote water

NIZWA, MAY 2 - A campaign to promote importance of water in Falaj Daris Park in Nizwa was held recently. The campaign was organised by the Public Relations students of Mass Communication Department at College of Applied Sciences in Nizwa in collaboration with the Ministry of Regional Municipal and Water Resources (MRMWR) and the Directorate-General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The campaign activities were conducted under the auspicious of Ahmed al Harthi, Director of Water Resources Affairs at the General Directorate of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, in the presence of Dr Khalid Sultan, Head of the Department of Mass Communication in CAS Nizwa.


The event was attended by officials from the Directorate-General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, faculty members and students from CAS Nizwa, students from different schools in the governorate. The aim of the campaign was to create awareness and educate the students and public about importance of water. This community activity was organised as part of MRMWR’s Arab Water Day celebrations and PR students’ annual campaign on Water for Health. Ahmed al Harthi says the programme has come on the occasion when Ministry Regional Municipal and Water Resources is celebrating World water Day and Arab Water day.


‘We are happy to collaborate with students of Public Relations from CAS, Nizwa to conduct this community activity. Such initiatives will spread awareness among the public about the importance of water and to conserve it for a healthy environment.’ The event started with an campaign speech by Aliaa al Majali, one of the PR students who explained the importance of drinking water, its medicinal value and the importance of preserving water. Dr Khaled Sultan, Head of Mass Communication department in CAS Nizwa, said: ‘The event was effective in highlighting to students to drink water for better health. Such initiatives are included in the courses to provide opportunities for students to display their skills and creativity.’


The PR students also conducted many competitions participated by schoolchildren from Nizwa. Mariam al Durai, one of the school students, said: “It is a new experience to participate in the competitions, and very challenging to express water in drawing.’
