Cairo courts conference to review electoral disputes

MUSCAT: The Sultanate represented by the Administrative Court participated in the first international conference in Cairo, Egypt. The conference is organised by the Arab Union for Administrative Court.


The Sultanate is represented by a delegation led by Shaikh Majid bin Abdullah al Alawi, Head of the Administrative


Court.


The delegation included Adviser Nasser bin Mohammed al Rawahi, Adviser Abdullah bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Adviser Dr Jabir bin Khalfan al Hatali, and Said bin Abdullah al Zaabi, Director of the Office of the Head of the Administrative Court.


The conference, which ends today, aims at reviewing the practices in the Arab member states of the union, as well as the various international and regional practices related to the settlement of electoral


disputes.


The agenda of the conference will include important themes in the field of adjudicating electoral disputes aimed at developing and strengthening cooperation between administrative courts in the Arab countries, exchanging experiences and learning about the Arab and international experiences and applications, benefiting from them, identifying difficulties and trying to find solutions.


Some of the proposals made by the judges of the participating member states, representatives and specialists around the world, will be presented at the conference and the recommendations of the conference will be discussed. — ONA
