Muscat: Waljat College of Applied Sciences said in a statement  on Monday that it had to stop taking new students as its associate partner Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) in India had withdrawn the affiliation.

The BIT decision follows the University Grants Commission of India 2016 regulation that prohibits BIT from from any affiliation outside India.

Waljat College added that the academic activities will continue for the existing registered students till they graduate in July 2021. BIT has ensured full cooperation till the registered students graduate. It said that the ministerial decision was based on the request by Waljat to stop accepting new students.
