As Ramadhan enters the final phase today, believers look out for the ‘promised night’ that was blessed with the advent of the holy Quran to mankind. The coming 10 days of the holy month are so crucial for believers that they would maximise their deeds such as prayers, supplications, charity and other ways to get closer to Almighty Allah and make use of the final phase to the fullest. The holy Quran says about a night in the last 10 days of the holy month which is better than a thousand nights and believers are well aware of the power in the Night of Majesty and of course what the Prophet (peace be upon him) said about locating the blessed night. From today, every moment counts and believers will gather at Masjids in large numbers, especially on odd nights.

Abu Daw’ud and Tirmidhi have reported that the supplication that gets the quickest answer is the one made by one Muslim for another in his absence. The last phase is made particularly important with the distinguished supplication of seeking forgiveness for all the shortcomings and flaws that a person has done in his life.

“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni” (O Allah, You are All-Forgiving and You love forgiveness so forgive me).” Think of all that you need to ask Allah for and ask Him now. If you haven’t before, this is the time to connect with Him and feel closer to Him. And when you do during these last 10 nights and days of this Ramadhan, you would want to do this again and again — even after the month is over. When you are in a state of prayers and worship, one needs to open his heart for others as well and please do remember your brothers and sisters in your prayers.

It is generally believed that whatever good deeds (reciting Quran, dhikr, making dua, Qiyamul-lail, etc) one does for the next ten days to make the most in Ibadah, the benefits are in multiple folds. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from ‘Aisha (r.a) that when the last ten days of Ramadhan began, the Prophet (pbuh) would stay up at night, wake his family and tie his lower garment tight. He would strive hard in worship during the last ten nights of Ramadhan as he did not do at other times. Whoever spends the night of Laylat al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his previous sins.”

“Push away the distractions pulling us to the material world. Imagine yourself a slave on duty and work without taking a break. Let’s make these coming 9 nights branded as “ME TIME WITH ALLAH” and be one among those who have secured the world hereafter”, says Qari Saad Nomani, a renowned Qari in the Islamic World who was in Muscat as part of his three-day Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Al Ameen.
