Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and as part of the 48 national day celebrations, High Highness Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr al Said, presided over the grand opening of Batinah expressway which was held on Wednesday.
In his opening speech, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Saleem al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, said that the opening of this road completes the integration between land, sea and air logistics sources as well the inter-connectivity in between ports,airports ,idustrial zones , economic zones, public transport with a strategic road that fulfills a sustainable development needs.
Batinah Expressway road is one of the strategic projects that the ministry oversees. This 270km road starts from the end of Muscat expressway at the Halban interchange and ends at Khatmat Milahahin in Shinas.
The road consists of four (3.75m) wide lanes on each side, three meters external shoulder, two meters internal shoulders, 23 interchanges, 17 flyovers, 12 underpasses and 25 wadi bridges.
