Bank Muscat Chief Executive ranked among top 100 CEOs in GCC

By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: MAY 17 - For the second consecutive year, AbdulRazak Ali Issa (pictured), Chief Executive of Bank Muscat, has earned a prominent position among the top 100 CEOs in the GCC region. In recognition of outstanding contributions to the banking and financial sector in Oman and the GCC region, AbdulRazak was ranked 47th among the ‘Top 100 CEOs in the GCC region’ by leading business publication group Mediaquest.


Commenting on the achievement, AbdulRazak said, “I am honoured to be reckoned among the most influential CEOs in the GCC region. I owe this achievement to the valuable development opportunities made available to Omanis by the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.


Bank Muscat is a Renaissance achievement of the Sultanate and I am proud to have been associated with the bank in its quest to emerge as the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate. I thank the entire banking fraternity in the region for this recognition and goodwill. I also owe this achievement to the support from 3,500 plus colleagues at Bank Muscat.”


A highly respected figure in the financial sector, AbdulRazak is the Chairman of Oman Banks Association. AbdulRazak added,  “The current developments in the GCC financial and banking sector are attributable to the sincere and dedicated efforts by the regulatory bodies in addition to the continued focus on developing and grooming the youth through educational and training programmes as well as encouraging and motivating them to participate in the development, progress and growth process across the region.”


AbdulRazak, who has over 40 years of experience in the banking sector, assumed the role of Chief Executive of Bank Muscat in 1994. Since assuming the role of Chief Executive, AbdulRazak’s vision and determination have been to introduce the finest global banking practices and products to Oman through Bank Muscat, thereby raising its stature as the premier financial institution.


The prominent accolades won by AbdulRazak include the ‘Arab Banking Personality’ award by the Arab Banking Union; ‘Power 500 — the World’s most influential Arabs’ award by Arabian Business magazine; the ‘Banking and Finance Personality of the Year’ at the 3rd Middle East CEO Awards, the Best CEO award by Business Today magazine and the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award by Oman Economic Review.
