Bahrain seeks investment opportunities

MUSCAT: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Wednesday received a delegation from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry headed by Khalid Mohammed Najibi, First Deputy Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and urged the private sector in both countries to benefit from investment, industrial and commercial opportunities through cooperation in various sectors, such as mining, energy, food security, complementary industries, tourism, insurance and real estate. The meeting addressed the challenges facing investors in both countries and to find ways and means to facilitate those challenges.


Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, OCCI Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that the Sultanate has a strong historical relationship with the Kingdom of Bahrain and the development of these relations in all sectors. He added that Omani imports from Bahrain last year amounted to over RO 115 million while exports to Bahrain amounted to RO 41 million.


He added that the volume of Omani-Bahraini joint investments registered in the Sultanate amounted to RO 56 million during 2016. The Bahraini contribution is about RO 28 million, 50 per cent of which is distributed to 490 companies in the sectors of trade, construction, transportation, services and other fields. — ONA
