By Business Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec 4: Awasr, the Sultanate’s premier provider of specialised broadband Internet services, has reported a strong up take of its high-speed Internet connectivity in Seeb and Al Mawaleh North in Muscat Governorate. Customers in these areas are now enjoying the best of Fibrenet Internet at competitive rates from Awasr with speeds up to 1 Gigabit, the fastest in the Sultanate. Seeb is one of the largest provinces in Oman with a population of 240,000 while Al Mawaleh has emerged as a popular residential area.

Before Awasr introduced its Fibrenet packages, homes and businesses in these areas had limited high-speed Internet options to choose from, and were mainly reliant on traditional Internet connections based on ADSL and WiMAX, both of which did not have the quality and speed compared to Fibrenet connections. Having launched its services in a number of regions, including Al Khoud, Al Mawaleh, Al Hail, Maabelah and Shatti Al Qurum in the first phase, Awasr is now looking to expand its services in the capital region in the next two quarters. In fact, in the coming few weeks, Awasr services will be rolled out in Al Manooma and Al Hail North (Kharayas).

Awasr has been working on offering attractive high quality broadband packages with a mission to help customers unlock the power and enjoyment of the Internet as part of its efforts to encourage innovation and creative approach to development. Research studies have shown that communities with access to high speed Internet are more innovative and contribute far more to a country’s growth.

“The Fibrenet packages offered by Awasr support Oman’s vision to enhance the digital infrastructure through high-speed Internet services. Awasr’s today provides the fastest Internet of 1 Gigabit speed, empowering people and businesses to tap into the power of Internet to contribute to the prosperity and sustainable development of the Sultanate,”  said Issam al Ismaily, Head of Marketing, Awasr. “The satisfaction of our customers in the Seeb and Al Mawaleh North governorates reflect our customer focused services based on Awasr’s four core values — simple, caring, smart and agile,” added Al Ismaily.
