MUSCAT: Over 100 members and guests of the Australian Business Group Oman joined the celebrations in the InterContinental Hotel gardens on January 31. Attendees were treated to the sights and sounds of Australia, as well as indulging in a variety of Australian delicacies. Chairman, Susan Rae, welcomed the guest of honour, Australian Ambassador Dr Ralph King, as well as nearly 50 Omanis who had studied in Australia. She said, “We love to meet up with the Alumni, and to reminisce with them about their time spent in Australia. They enjoy rekindling old friendships and to again share their memories and experiences.”

“It’s also a time when our members can join together to thank our sponsors for their support of our business group, which seeks to strengthen business ties between Oman and Australia.” Key sponsors include Bank of Beirut, Addleshaw Goddard and Worley Parsons, all of whom attended the event. Qatar Airways, which is expanding its flights to Australia donated a prize of a return flight to any Australian city in their network. Lamingtons, meat pies and a sausage sizzle, all synonymous with Australia Day, were featured in the menu, with a backdrop of iconic Australian images, including the Sydney Opera House, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.
