NIZWA, March 7 -

Artisans at Nizwa Castle were honoured recently by Bawader International Company, which runs activities of the castle, as part of celebration of Oman Craftsman Day.

Thirty people working on Omani crafts — handicrafts, safflower, pottery, Omani cuisine, spinning and weaving, milk and carpentry industry, and other trades famous in Al Dakhiliyah — were honoured

Zahran bin Mohsen al Nabhani, Vice-Chairman of Bawader International Company, distributed souvenirs to the craftsmen in recognition of their services in preserving these crafts.

“The Craftsman Day is an important occasion that brings to mind the era of the old Omani industries that we were proud of. The honour is an attempt by the company to offer a touch of fulfilment to these craftsmen in recognition of their role and effort in preserving these legacies,” said Al Nabhani.

Bawader International Company, he said, had been entrusted with the task of managing activities of the fort since December in accordance with an agreement with Omran and the Ministry of Tourism.
