MUSCAT: The State Council through its student awareness-programme, welcomed 35 students from Al Rumais School, South Batinah. During the visit, the students were provided a detailed explanation of the functions and powers of the Council, the tasks and responsibilities entrusted to it as well as an introduction to the organisational structure of the Council and its major organs. The State Council allows academic institutions to co-ordinate, and organise visits which enable the students to learn more about the Council’s role, its work in person and view the venue where the draft laws are processed, deliberated and approved. The presentation also defined the profile of the Oman Council, its role and significance in governance. Sibani highlighted the difference between the State Council and the Shura Council in terms of reference, and the draft law process. During the visit the students also toured the library and the main meeting hall to view the facilities. The presentation concluded after the queries raised by the students were answered.
