Automated gate at Port of Sohar

MUSCAT: The Port of Sohar has launched an automated gate at the container terminal (C) at a cost of RO 1.5 million. Said bin Hamdoon al Harthi, Under-Secretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs, said the auto gate will reduce the waiting time for ships at the port. Al Harthi said the port is now linked to more than 100 navigation lines and a new direct line will be launched shortly. Jamal Aziz, CEO of Sohar Freezone and Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC) said the port grew by 6 per cent in first quarter of this year compared to the same period of last year.
