Washington: The number of Omani students studying in the United States of America (USA) and Canada at the expense of the Ministry of Higher Education and other bodies stands at 3,500. About 600 students are expected to start graduate and postgraduate studies for the academic year 2017-2018. The Cultural Attaché in Washington fully supervises all students and their families in North America regardless of who sponsors their studies.
Dr Talal bin Mohammed al Balushi, Cultural Attaché, said that his role is to negotiate with educational institutions in North America to find seats for Omani students and academic supervision of Omani scholarship students from the date of their arrival until graduation. The Cultural Attaché also provides educational institutions in North America with data on scholarship students. It also coordinates between the various scholarship bodies and those educational institutions, in addition to the attestation of certificates issued by educational institutions to Omani citizens. — ONA
