Shari’a issues related to credit cards discussed

MUSCAT: The 3rd meeting of the High Shari’a Supervisory Authority at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) for this year was held at the CBO premises on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Dr Kahlan bin Nabhan al Kharoosi, Chairman of the Authority. The Authority made detailed deliberations on the issues presented to it, covering Shari’a requirements pertaining to the establishment of Bank Deposit Protection Scheme for the licensed Islamic Banking Entities, in addition to the Shari’a issues related to credit card products, and gave its opinions on these issues in the light of discussions. The Authority also were briefed by a follow-up report on the actions taken on the issues discussed at the previous meeting. — ONA
